A 'glimmer' such as a beautiful sunset stops you in your tracks and helps to spark energy in your mind, body and spirit

what are glimmers and how can they help you

Now, we’re all relatively familiar with the term ‘trigger’, but how about ‘glimmer’? A glimmer is the opposite of a trigger- instead of setting of a series of negative thoughts, feelings or emotions, a glimmer is something that ‘lights you up’, and creates feelings of joy, peace and rest within us.

Glimmers are little things that give you feelings of peace, joy or warmth in your day. Think of stroking a pet, the smell of your morning coffee, or seeing the sun set. It can be something as small as noticing the sun peeking through the trees.

The idea is that if we pay more attention to the things that light us up, the more we’ll notice them. And the more we notice them, the more we can try to include them into each day.

So, if we’re able to acknowledge what makes us feel little moments of joy, we can focus on incorporating those more into our day to day, and practice moments of gratitude and contentment. Sound good? Here’s some of team LKC’s glimmers to help inspire you with yours.

pets

LKC is a team of pet owners and animal lovers. Founders Karen and Patrick have two bichon frises, Moo and Ruby. While Makenna has a sprocker also called Moo (what are the chances?!)

Whilst not always in the workshop, both Ruby & Moo have been with us throughout our journey into building our business, and we wouldn’t be here without all of those tail wags, cuddles and ‘woofs’ of support along the way. They’re our Chief Morale Officers, and their duties include joining in brainstorming sessions, giving great cuddles and big welcome homes after a day at the workshop.

We are such ‘dog people’, and time with them whether it be walking with them, or curling up on the sofa is a huge glimmer for us. We love featuring them in our content, and you may have spotted them photobombing our posts on more than one occasion.

a morning dance

Hear us out- sometimes, we can wake up in a bit of a funk. We’ve found that putting on our favourite songs, turning it up loud and proud, and dancing like no one’s watching gives us all of the ‘feel good’ vibes that we’re looking for.

So the next time you wake up feeling not your best self, take a moment to open your curtains, let the sunshine in and dance like nobody is watching. We promise it’ll help to reset you and pull you out of that funk, as well as set you up nicely for a great day.

lighting

This may seem like a strange one, but how do you feel when you’re sat in artificial lighting? Now, think about how you feel when you watch the morning sun rise, or even when you’ve set up some evening mood lighting. Soft, warm tones, think candles, salt lamps, or even setting your alarm a little earlier to catch that morning glow.

We love how the warm glow of low lighting and candles give us all the cosy vibes. How can you achieve this at home? We recommend that you avoid turning on ceiling lights, and instead use lamps with warm white bulbs to create a soft glow. Layer your home lighting scheme with multiple candles to create a super cosy atmosphere that will help you feel peaceful, joyful and warm.
